The Challenge of Designing for a Live TV Show

With many users, the homepage needed to dynamically prioritize American Idol's live show schedules, auditions, contestant profiles, video recaps, and breaking news. Social tools and sharing were crucial to the growing audience of the show. The homepage needed flexible modules or components that could adapt to content changes and highlight timely elements.

The Solution

Design easily navigational social tools, allowing users to share AmericanIdol.com and engage via other social spaces such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube, and Pinterest. The Show and Fan feeds allowed users to not only see, but actively participate in the conversations on American Idol that were happening via Facebook and Twitter.
